Changing Opening Size - Dynamo
The purpose is to study a façade design that is sustainable and helps to make the earth greener.
The goal is to study the façade design which changes
depending on the time of the day.
The objective is to create a façade that has windows whose
size changes reflecting the Sun orientation. To be specific, the height and
width of the windows in the façade change reflecting the passage of time. At
midnight and noon, the size of the window is the smallest to prevent energy
loss from heating or cooling.
This study will use a façade that has 5 openings in total:
2 180 X 180 openings in the top row and 3 108 X108 openings in the bottom row.
The openings vary in their opening sizes according to the
Sun altitudes.
Dynamo programming
Dimensions of openings are created as parameters, and these are designed to change according to the sun's altitude.
For the value in the ElementSetParameterByName node, SunSettings.Current node and SetSettings.Altitude node are used.
Here are the design outcomes
Opening sizes change; during the time when Sun's altitude is low (daylight is small delivering less energy), the opening size is larger than when Sun's altitude is high (daylight is large delivering more energy).
